Raft building

Activity insights:

Teams are divided into smaller groups using ice-breakers. These new teams are made in such a way that team members group with people they are not very familiar with, thus establishing new relationships. Each team will then be tasked with building fully functional rafts. That’s not all, they will also have to complete a race in competition with other teams, making the finale of the event.

How it is done?

Each team is given a set of basic raw materials with which they are expected to build a raft. While these materials seem sparse, teams are encouraged to use their creative skills to finally build a raft that will take them towards success.

Activity Target:

This fun, interactive game is designed for every team that needs coordination and shared effort. It is aimed at creating a cohesive bond among team members, while improving their leadership skills and creativity among a host of other management qualities. This game can only be conducted in an outdoor location, such that teams can compete in a real race in each of their own rafts.

Key Takeaways:

The primary purpose of this exercise is to help team members get to know and understand each other. Facilitators will ensure that team members are clubbed in groups other than their own, so they are able to establish bonds with every member of the team.

Each member will have a specific role to play and the team will recognise the importance of working together in order to achieve the final objective. It will also highlight the importance of effective communication, without which no goal can be accomplished.

Resource Management:

Given a set of raw materials, teams will have to construct a raft with just these. It will help each of them understand the importance of every resources, thud relating it to an organisational level, inculcating in them the habit of better resource management.

Competitive Spirit:

Healthy competition always brings out the best in teams. The finale of this event involves a race in the raft built by the teams, thus getting them accustomed to the spirit of healthy competition, which will only encourage them to perform better.
