MAKE MUSIC FROM JUNK. USE EVERYDAY URBAN WASTES TO BUILD YOUR OWN MUSIC INSTRUMENTS AND PLAY ALONG WITH A TUNE. BETTER STILL, COMPOSE YOUR OWN JUNKYARD MASTERPIECE.
On the lines of reduce, reuse and recycle, now retune everyday junk items such as water cans, bottles, pipes and such to create music. The team works for about an hour on their instruments and then proceed to create a medley driven by a professional percussionist. The efforts finally harmonise into a soundtrack or personalized corporate anthem, creating team spirit.
100%
SATISFACTION
The activity is a great way to break the ice. Music has the power to open up people to be more approachable, relaxed and open to fresh ideas. The unique sound of each instrument coming together to make a medley pushes teams to be creative and results in a great bonding session with their peers.
How Beat the Trash adds value to team?
Creativity
Teams need to get their creative juices flowing to make music. The sounds of music generated from each instrument must fall into sync with the others in order to create pleasant and catchy or soothing music. Complete involvement and inventiveness is necessary to avoid a badly arranged music piece.
Team bonding
This activity is a great stress-buster. The process of playing around with different sounds and finding a rhythm enables people to express, take positive feedback and be open to suggestions. People tend to be more approachable when activities are based on having fun rather than stringent benchmarks.
Thinking Out of the Box
Teams need to make a music medley from scratch. This composition requires them to plan a tune, adapt to new sounds and experiment with different sounds, including claps and body percussions. This requires a lot of creative non-linear thinking within the teams.
Ownership
Each member has a part to play and must stick to the time limit. Any off-beat sound will result in jarring music. Everyone has to contribute equally and efficiently to ensure the music as a whole is not affected.
Listening skills
Music is an audible sensation. Much like most verbal communication, teams must pay attention to what is going on at every twist of the song so that they are ready to play the right note at the right time. A harmony can only be created when participants align themselves with each other and their instruments. Many instruments, one music is very pleasing to hear.
