High-Energy Outdoor Build & Race Team Building Challenge
Rollerboard is a two-phase outdoor team building challenge that combines creative engineering with a high-speed race — and delivers maximum energy in both phases. First, teams must build their own roller board using raw materials provided. Then, they must race it with three team members on board.
The engineering phase tests creativity, collaboration, and structural thinking. The racing phase tests coordination, communication, and nerve. And the transition from builder to rider is one of the most revealing moments of the entire day.
Rollerboard is not just about reaching the finish line — it's about what your team builds, how they build it, and whether they can make it hold together when it really matters.
Each team receives raw materials — a large wooden board, bamboo sticks, and metal pipes. Their brief: build a functioning roller board capable of carrying three team members simultaneously.
Teams have a set time to design and assemble their roller board. It must be stable, functional, and safely capable of bearing the weight of three riders.
Once building time ends, three team members board the roller board and the remaining team members propel them toward the finish line. The board must stay intact throughout the race.
The team whose board carries three riders across the finish line first — with the structure intact — wins. Teams that built poorly discover this the moment the race begins.
Book with Trebound and every detail is managed end-to-end. Your team shows up and plays.
Here's what your team builds beyond the activity itself:
Building a functional vehicle from raw materials under time pressure requires creative thinking, structural reasoning, and hands-on problem-solving.
Multiple design ideas competing in a short build window forces teams to debate quickly, decide collectively, and commit fully without second-guessing.
Propelling a board with three riders requires the pushing team to synchronise effort precisely. Uncoordinated pushing sends the board sideways every time.
The race is the test. Teams experience the direct consequence of their design decisions in real time — making the debrief about planning and execution unusually vivid.
Every team member has contributed to the board. When it holds and crosses the line, the collective pride is extraordinary and genuinely unifying.
Most first builds have structural weaknesses discovered during assembly. Teams learn to identify, reinforce, and improve their design in real time under a ticking clock.
The build phase is catnip for people who love to make things. Technical teams find the raw material challenge immediately engaging and the race an exciting test of construction.
Fast, competitive, and spectacularly fun — the Rollerboard race is a natural fit for sales team events where energy and competitiveness define the culture.
One of the most visually spectacular activities Trebound offers. The race draws a crowd, generates cheering, and creates a shared moment of collective excitement.
Building something together and riding it to the finish line is a powerful metaphor for project completion — use it to celebrate a major launch or company achievement.
Works brilliantly as the headline activity in an action-packed outdoor team building day — the build-and-race format gives it more depth than a typical race challenge.
The hands-on creativity and competitive racing format resonate strongly with early career cohorts who want to do something, build something, and win something together.
A high-impact session of real pressure, genuine laughter, and the kind of honest teamwork that only happens when everyone has to trust each other. Book Rollerboard with Trebound today.
