Movie Making is Trebound's most creatively complete team building experience — a full film production challenge that takes teams from blank page to big screen in a single session. Each team scripts, casts, directs, shoots, and edits their own short film using provided props and editing software. The result is a finished film screened to the full group at the end of the session. The activity requires every participant to contribute across multiple creative disciplines — some write, some direct, some perform, some edit. The film production process creates natural role differentiation, requiring teams to coordinate across functions and deliver their individual contributions to a shared creative vision under a hard deadline. Movie Making is the team building activity that most directly develops the creative communication, collaborative leadership, and production discipline skills that define high-performing teams in any creative or client-facing industry.
Teams receive the activity brief — duration, format, and any optional thematic constraints. Teams brainstorm their concept, develop a script, assign roles (director, camera, actors, editor), and plan their filming schedule within the available time.
Teams shoot their film across the available venue space, following their storyboard and script. Props are used creatively, scenes are blocked and directed, and multiple takes are managed against the production timeline.
Footage is edited using provided software — cutting scenes, adding titles, and producing a finished short film that meets the brief. The editing phase is often where creative decisions are made under the most time pressure.
All completed films are screened to the full group simultaneously. The screening is one of the most energising moments in any team building day — laughter, recognition, and collective creative pride filling the room.
